Meet our artisan Maria!

Maria was born in Santiago Panabaj with a loving mother who worked tirelessly to provide for her and her siblings. The extreme poverty had a profound effect on Maria who at a very young age began working to supplement the family income. 

In 2012 Maria’s mother Juana, become Women of Hope’s first artisan, introducing Maria to the ministry in 2013. As an experienced artisan, Maria started on a seasonal basis making our nativity ornaments. 

Then in 2017 she came onboard fulltime as new product designer and artisan trainer. As the most senior artisan at WoH, her sweet, patient spirit is an asset as she loves her co-workers and encourages them. Maria and her husband Martin, have three daughters Andrea, Juanita and Jennifer who have now become third generation artisans with WoH.

Maria's birthday is August 30th.
