Meet our artisan Elena!

Among the talented artisans at Women of Hope, one will find Elena. She joined the team in March of 2022; but was no novice to beadwork. In fact, Elena already had 12 years of experience in beading. Another artisan told Elena about WoH and she came mostly out of curiosity, “I’m so grateful that I did!” 

Elena only completed her education through 2nd grade and mostly spoke their local dialect, Tz’utujil. Since coming to WoH she has begun learning and speaking Spanish. 

Elena treasures her relationships with the other artisans and says WoH has also helped her gain confidence. She enjoys making a variety of items, but especially our Flamingo & Golfing Santa.
